A stash finds a home

Thank you for all  your thoughts about my recent muslin journey.  I put on my reality glasses and now see that my fit was not great at all.   The girls definitely need more room and length.  I have also decided that the hip area in the back needs more room too.  I haven’t tried another muslin yet, but have been thinking hard and furiously about it as well as researching all my fit books.

In more exciting sewing news, my stash has found a home.  I always had a closet for my stash, but no shelving put up.

A couple of days ago we had the cabinet maker over and he graciously put up my Elfa shelving units for me as a housewarming gift.

Yeah!!!  Now here’s all my fabric, nicely folded and organized on my shelves.

As I was unpacking though, I realized that I have a huge scrap pile.  I just stuffed them all in a box and will store them on the floor of the closet for now.  Most pieces are too large to justify trashing.  I could use them for a variety of things, like facings, etc. so I will keep them for just such “emergencies”.

Even though I hate moving with the packing and unpacking, one benefit is fondling all my fabric.  It was so nice to see each and every piece.  There are a few of the what was I thinking sort, but I’m ok with that.  There’s always a learning curve to everything, especially fabric buying.

Happy sewing and stashing!

Congrats on getting it all settled in! Is there anything else left to do in the sewing room now?

I now use my knit scraps for undies :-). Only adds 15mn to the t-shirt, and takes care of all those pieces too small to make another shirt but too large to throw out without a pang. Jalie, that’s all I’ll say.
