Best weekend EVER

Friday night

Met up with Claudine to see the Balenciaga exhibit and then for dinner.  What gorgeous clothes.  I thought the exhibit was well curated with great information on the clothes.  There was a continuous video of several of his runway shows.  So cool to watch the clothes move.  It was interesting to note that none of the models were anorexic too.  We had dinner at Fig & Olive which was divine.  I even broke my moratorium on figs for the occasion.  For any who want to know why I don’t eat figs anymore, check this out.

Saturday

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Karen of Did You Make That? in the garment district in the afternoon.  We met up at Mood where she bought some lovely fabrics.  Then we traipsed to Spandex House, Chic Fabrics (where I may or may not have bought Thomas the Train flannel at the request of a certain little boy who was accompanying us), and then to Parons.  Here’s photographic evidence of our meeting:

At that point, we bid each other fond adieu, but only until July when I will be traveling to London.  We have plans to meet up with Eugenia at Liberty of London.  I can’t wait!

But wait, it continues!  Saturday night, my sister babysat for me and I got to see a movie.  You know, in the theater.  An actual movie.  I saw the King’s Speech and it was amazing.  I didn’t want it to end.  Now how many movies can you say that about?

Sunday

I got to sleep in!!!! It was only till 9am, but it was delicious.  And we are going to my sister’s for the superbowl.  She’s making carnitas.  My mouth is already watering in anticipation.

Photos of my stash increase are forthcoming.

Hope you all are having a good weekend too.

The King’s Speech is an incredible film. Yay for having some proper grown-up time as well!

Yay, it was lovely to meet you! Real life bloggers who exist in real life. Who knew? I really want to see The King’s Speech – and Black Swan. Can’t wait to start work on those fabrics. Thanks for your guidance. You clearly know a lot more about fabric than I do.

I’m so glad that you had such a great weekend – I think you deserved it as hard as you work on sewing projects! Hope your team wins this afternoon.

I’m sorry I missed the exhibit but I came home to Danny at the top of the steps going gma…it was a wonderful pick-me-up after a very hard day at work. Enjoy the super bowl game…I’m packing…after spending yesterday afternoon in the street with my mom, sister & daughter picking up the rest of the things I need for my trip!

Ah, those days are far behind me now and I miss my little boy dearly! He’s now 18 and 6’6″, not so little anymore.

It sounds as though you had a wonderful weekend, you deserve it!

I’m going backwards on your blog – such a DUH! Ooh what a fun weekend; do I need to reconsider my love for figs? Ugh. The King’s Speech is a great movie. So glad you had a great weekend!
