California Dreamin’ Giveaway!

2012 July 23
by elizabeth_admin

Tonight I unpacked my fabric boxes because I couldn’t find my pink thread.  I couldn’t for the life of me remember where I packed them.  While unpacking my fabric I came across some fabrics that don’t really fit my new California aesthetic.  So, I’m having my first ever giveaway to celebrate my new locale and my brand new life chapter.  I’m giving away three pieces of fabric.  Anyone in the world can participate; I will mail anywhere.  Just leave a comment on this post by 9am PST / 12pm EST Tuesday, July 24th to put your name in the drawing.

Here are the three fabrics…

First up, is an orange and grey striped sweater knit.  Not sure of the fabrication but it has a nice hand and drapes well.  It won’t be too clingy.  It’s 60” wide and a little over a yard long.

Next is a beautiful rayon print, red floral on navy background.  About 3 yds at 53″ wide.  Rayon has a great drape and fluidity.  It would look great as a wrap dress.

And finally, a plaid men’s cotton shirting in fall colors.  Not very San Diego like at all!  Since I’m not planning on making any men’s shirts, this piece doesn’t really need to stay in my stash, but it’s a really nice shirting and will make up well.

Good luck!  I can’t wait to see who wins.

P.S. I finally remembered where I packed my thread spools.  With my serger threads of course!  And they were already unpacked, under my sewing table.  Duh!

Great giveaway, please count me in! I think I’m seeing the same wrap dress as you for that rayon 🙂

  2. July 23, 2012

I’m always hesitant to enter giveaways first, though I know my odds are the same no matter when I comment. So count me in! Thanks!

  3. July 23, 2012

I guess I don’t dress very “Californian” because I live about 2 hours north of you and can see myself in the rayon knit and the men’s shirting. I think both (actually all 3) could be very Californian. Count me in for the giveaway!

    And congrats on the move!

  4. July 23, 2012

Happily I live in Tassie where it is cold (ish) and un-Californian. Am sure I could make excellent use of any of these – so yes please and thanks!

  5. July 23, 2012

I love the first one!!! I can’t get enough of stripes!

  6. July 23, 2012

All the very best for your new adventure!

You will deeply regret postage to NZ, so let me do you a favour and not enter the giveaway, but they are lovely fabrics and I hope they find a wonderful home. I see that madras in a pair of pants from Burdastyle earlier this year – they made some great madras cotton trousers out of very similar fabric.

It’s so cool that we’re in the same time zone!

I love that plaid shirting and so would my dad, who’s moving in with me in 2 weeks! And I’d be just the daughter to iron it, too. 🙂

It’s lovely you’re now in CA–I wish you all the best!

    Thanks for doing the giveaway.

The orange and gray stripe looks like fabric I had on my wish list at Fabric Mart. Sadly I waited too long to buy some and missed out on it. I’d love to win it.
    Thanks for the chance.
    Loving your CA posts.

I love that sweater knit! I think I was with you when you bought that piece of navy/red rayon. Chicago, right?

Oh, this is so nice of you to do! Thank you!

That grey and orange stripe would be a perfect little pop for my ‘all grey all the time’ fall/winter wardrobe. Or that plaid would be the fabric that would finally get me sewing something for my poor little guy – I haven’t even made him his summer shorts yet!

And I’m only in Canada – I’m pretty sure your USPS flat rate boxes are good for mailing to us too.

Any of those would be happy in my home. The sweater knit for a dress for a little miss, the madras for husband and the boy, the rayon for me.
