Do I smell another V8584?

Further to our conversation yesterday about making more casual clothes, I can’t get a silky version of Vogue 8584 out of my mind.  Shall I refresh your memory?

I made the version in the lower right hand corner without the cord ties.

I think this time, I would like to make the version on the left.  Here’s a close up.

I think I might narrow the pant leg near the ankles.  I don’t want to wear clown pants people!  Not sure I want to have pockets on my hips though.  I have enough hips on my own as it is.  I don’t need to add to them if you know what I mean.  So today at lunch I ran up to see my good friend Kashi at Metro Textiles (and bonus visit with Carolyn!).  He had just the fabric for me.  It’s a dark grey/brown taupe sueded silk, perfect for this pattern and oh so touchable.  It’s delish!  See for yourself…

If I skip the pockets, I might be able to cut and sew these up this evening in time to wear on Friday night.  Here’s to hoping!  Wish me luck.

I can’t wait to see how these come out. Without the pockets I could see them being a great dress up or dress down piece – casual sandals and a tee or tank for daytime and chic heels with a glittery or silk cami and some great jewelry for evening….

Yes, definitely leave the pockets off! And it was great seeing you too!

Many years ago I owned a pair of silk combat trousers and they got worn to death. They were incredibly comfortable and incredibly flattering. I know yours will be too!

I have been looking all over Sydney for sueded silk in navy blue to make similar pants. I ended up with a synthetic, so you are a lucky girl. I think this pattern screams silk, soft and floaty.

E – catching up on blogs here. The sueded silk is perfect for this pair of pants.

I agree with everyone else. You have to work this one up. They are going to look great. P.S. Welcome back.

That fabric is perfect for those! I agree about leaving the pockets off. Can’t wait to see the result.

I guess I should pass the Simplicity and New Look catalogs on to someone else?

I kind of dig the balloon hem. Although on someone much taller than me (ie, you). That fabric looks wonderful!
