Down for the count

Folks, I’ve been laid up with a wicked flu.  I’ve been out of commission since Tuesday.  No sewing, only writhing on my bed.  I would look longingly at my sewing table and my fabric closet in between fetal positions.

But today is a brand new day.  I lost 5 lbs on the flu diet and I’m ready to rock and roll.

Thank you for your commiseration on the B5523 dress.  I think some time in the magic closet will do us both some good.

And now for something completely different.  I’m back in business sewing wise and want to start my next project.  I believe I mentioned it to you last week.  A Burda pattern, 6-2009-109.

I think I had mentioned that I was going to make it up in a knit or maybe a sweater knit.  I think my muslin will be a plain old knit.  I am really liking this silhouette and it’s turning up everywhere I see in blogland.  Shannon at MushyWear just make a cute top with these lines that I just adore.  Check it out!  I might have to get that pattern too.

Anyway, may you all be healthy enough to sew!

Ah, glad you’re feeling better Elizabeth – will be keen to see how the Burda top turns out too 🙂

I’m glad you’re feeling better. Be careful about that top in a sweater knit. Bulky fabric + bulky pattern = lots of bulk. Not to say you shouldn’t do it. Just be careful. It looks like the Burda one is made in some kind of lightweight silk.

So sorry to hear that you’ve been sick! I hate being sick and also seeing my sewing stuff lying around and feeling despair at not being well enough to even sew! Gah! Glad to hear you are feeling better. I anxiously await your version of this top! Great choice! xoxo

You must be feeling much better and I’m glad you are. Good thing you didn’t try to sew, I did once while sick and it was a real mess.

I’m sorry you’ve been sick but I’m glad that you’re on the mend. It’s awful having to look at all the things you wish you were doing but haven’t the energy. Looking forward to seeing the top!

Condolences! I had the awful awful flu (which turned into bronchitis) for a full two weeks at the beginning of January. Take care. You can’t speed up getting better unfortunately. 🙁

Glad you are feeling better and on the mend. I agree with Claudine on being careful with choosing a bulky fabric. Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
