Do you dream about sewing?
Once when I was attempting to go vegetarian by cutting one type of meat out at a time, I had the longest, most intense and detailed dream about cooking a beef bolognese pasta sauce from scratch. First I minced the herbs, then I diced the onions, and carrots. Then I slowly browned the ground meat. Seriously, I could smell it cooking in my dream. I woke up and knew, just knew, I would never be able to become a vegetarian. And I’m not.
Well, last night I had the same kind of dream about sewing. It was so detailed. I went to my fabric closet, chose my fabric, washed it, chose the pattern, cut it out, and so on and so on. By the time I woke up from my dream, I had a beautiful graphic, pleated skirt completed. It was so beautiful. I almost expected it to be real — as if I had really sewed it while I was asleep.
And do you know what the best part was? I actually have that fabric in the stash. I bought it at the PR NYC weekend in 2012 at Paron’s, one of my favorite Garment District stores.
And I think I have a pleated skirt pattern in my pattern stash. I could totally make my dream skirt. In fact, I think I will.
So do you? Do you dream sew?
