Fabric accidents

It was an accident and I’m sticking to that story.

This past Saturday, Jack and I met up with Karen for a little fabric shopping.  In reality, I have no need for fabric since my recent FabricMart knits binge and the very fast approaching Chicago PR Weekend in less than two weeks.  But, she was coming and Jack and I had no plans anyway.  So… a little fabric was indeed purchased.

We first traipsed into Mood.  Now I have been there several times now.  But each time in the past, I have never bought anything.  I’m not sure why.  I like the fabrics there.  There’s plenty of selection.  Maybe it’s just too much selection and it overwhelms me.  I don’t know.  This time, however, I was determined to buy something.  I found a red black and grey knit that I liked.  It has the same feel and hand of the knits I just bought from Fabricmart and I really love that color combo.  I saw a similar knit a couple of weeks ago at Elliott Berman, but it was a bit out of my price threshold for a knit, so I didn’t buy it.

After Mood, we stopped by Pacific Trimmings and I picked up a few essentials: a Riri exposed zipper, some buttons and a few yards of 3/8′ elastic (to make more versions of M6069 – how many versions do you think I can get away with before people catch on?)

Then it was off to Paron’s, one of my fave stores.  They have a little bit of everything but perfectly chosen and best of all, I’m not worried about Jack getting into any trouble in there.  😉    I always check out their silk twill selection.  This time however, I remembered that I wanted to make an eyelet sheath dress.  Ever since I saw Carolyn’s dress, I knew I wanted to make an eyelet dress of my own. I found the perfect black cotton eyelet and turquoise cotton voile with which to underline it.  Yum!

So there you have it!  My guilty purchases.  🙂

I like the black/turquoise combo! Very nice! Plus now you have room to store more fabrics so you should purchase more, right? Well that’s my theory and I’m sticking with it! *LOL*

That knit jersey is MY colors. I would have brought it home too. Parons was my fav store when I visited NYC as well. The eyelet color combo is going to look spectacular!

Those fabrics are pretty indeed. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, this kind of accidents can happen to anyone. 😉 Enjoy the sewing.
