Hashi Love
I received a wonderful surprise in the mail this week, from Ms. Hashi herself. After reading my post about wanting to learn how to paint and the creative urge, Hashi sent me this wonderful book, The Creative License, by Danny Gregory. She said that she used it to learn how to draw and paint. If you saw her paintings, you wouldn’t believe she hasn’t painted since childhood.

Of course, I immediately sat down and started reading it. I am not very far along yet in the book, only having just reached the first drawing exercises so far, but I totally recognized myself in the pages – the constant urge to create and make things, the endless parade of hobbies… That’s me!!! My favorite quote in the book was from an art professor whose child asked him what he did all day. He replied that he taught people how to draw and the child asked disbelievingly, “Did they forget how?”
I love Mr. Gregory’s voice. It comes through his writing loud and clear. I can’t wait to start working the book. I’m taking it with me on vacation this week and I’m going to draw every spare minute I have while visiting my family in Madison.
Thank you Hashi for this precious gift and for believing that I can draw and paint too.

Yay! You made me smile very very widely!!
I just ordered this book. It looks fabulous!! There is a review on amazon where the reader shows a video, quickly flipping through the book pages, so you get an idea of how creative this book is!
Thanks!
I’m excited to see your drawings! Drawing is so much fun and addictive (just like sewing). I hope you love it. Have fun in Madison!
Happy Holidays! What a great gift! I think this is going on my “must have” list.
Thank you! I just ordered this book as a gift for my DH.
