It’s Spring?!?
People, it’s only February here in San Diego and Spring has already sprung. I kid you not. There are flowers blooming everywhere. It’s been in the 70′s the past few days. Jack even wanted to go into the swimming pool two days ago.
I’m not ready for Spring.
I’m not done sewing for Winter. I never got to make my Asos knockoff. I just purchased more double knit and more faux stretch leather. I still have cute mini-ish skirts that I want to make and wear with tights.
But yesterday, I wore one of my linen shirts. Linen. That’s a summer fabric. I’m wearing a summer fabric in February. I don’t know if I should be happy or sad about that.
I guess I better start planning more spring and summer sewing. Now. Will someone please remind me to make that Asos knockoff in September so I have all of my two month winter to wear it. Thanks!
Are you starting to work on your Spring sewing yet?
P.S. Did you all watch the Downton Abbey season ending last night? Were you as disappointed as I was at how it progressed? Without going into any details, I thought it was awful and laughable. I will not be watching season 4. I don’t see how it could be any good. Season 3 was so up and down quality wise and the story lines aren’t going anywhere except for Edith’s. What a downer Downton was last night.

I completely sympathize with your disappointment in the weather. I live in south Alabama and I can’t say that we have really had a winter. By the way, where do you get stretch leather?
It’s faux leather with a little stretch. I bought it at Spandex house. But not all faux stretch leathers are created equal. Definitely swatch before you buy on line to make sure you’re getting what you want. photos of stretch leather do not accurately depict how they look IRL or how they feel. I bought some stripper-tastic faux leather that way by mistake. Caveat emptor!
Thank you. I checked their website out.
Don’t break out too many summer dresses yet, there is a cold Alaskan storm coming through!
There’s an interview with Julian Fellowes in the Times today. Apparently, he had to kill off the characters because the actors declined to renew their contracts.
But think about it. Now you’ll have Mary and Tom running things at Downton. Interesting, no?
I know that you’ll probably get sick of the nice weather, but it’s so cold here that I can’t help but be jealous.
Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker? I can imagine adjusting to your new climate will take some time.
For the first time ever, I got the urge to sew linen in the midst of winter. I’ve completed two jackets that will be perfect for when the snow goes away. Since I live in Massachusetts, I’ll be waiting quite a while before wearing them.
Where are you getting the stretch leather? Please share!
I also love Downton Abbey but am a season behind… I don’t have a TV, so have to wait for it on Netflix. Thank you for not posting any spoilers, I trying to be patient for the Season 4 release!
I’m going to be in San Diego May 6 and 7 and was wondering if you want to meet up one of those days for a few hours to hit up some San Diego fabric shops???
I am on the other side of the world and think Autumn is coming early! Something is going on – my camelias have started flowering and I have cut out a pair of slippers to sew as my feet are cold!
I long for spring
I am in exactly the same boat as you, although I hate being cold so from that point of view I am not complaining. I think I will just finish up the couple of things I have cut already and then move onto spring sewing too. Of course that’s easier said than done, no doubt I’ll just get started and it will be fall!!
If you had to face the gray, gray gray and cold(ish) nine months of every Seattle year, you’d be so grateful for the sun you have.
I could never stop warching DA even if just for the sets and especially costumes. They ‘re out of the park. Makes some tedious and stupid plotlines very bearable.
Lovely shirt! the wether is weird these days. Here in Sydney, Australia it went from being sweltering last week, to cold and Ugg boot weather this week. Luckily I am keen to do some winter sewing
