Labels and a dress

I know you’re all waiting with breath held to hear if I finished my dress last night, right?  😉

Well, I did!!!  I don’t have any pictures to show you yet though.  Sorry!  I finished at 12:30am and was just too tired to take any construction pictures or pictures of the dress on me in my late night disheveled state.  Overall, I am pleased that I finished the dress.  The “design feature” at the back neck bothers me a little and I’m concerned that I while this is definitely wearable, all the changes I made to it to get it to a wearable state aren’t really transferable to the next iteration since I will be starting a size smaller to begin with.  What that means is I will have to muslin all over again.  And after all the work that went into this version, I think I am exhausted by this pattern.  All my work was for a double knit fabric too.  A woven would be an entirely new process.  Just thinking about it makes me tired.

I promise to have pictures of the dress tomorrow.

I will leave you with the following visions instead, my labels!  They finally came and I love them!!!!

They look fantastic and oh so professional.  I enthusiastically recommend Worldwide Label on Etsy.

Curiously, I did not sew in a label into my new dress.  I did not think the dress worthy because of my “design feature”.  I guess I’m going to be extremely picky about what garments are label worthy.  Interesting, no?

Have a great sewing weekend everyone!

E – sorry I have been MIA from your blog. Well – get to it and get us pics of the finished dress. I also highly recommend Worldwide Label – great communication/Seller. BTW – have a great time at the Balenciaga exhibit. It was fun … wait until you get to see the videos … I leave it at that :-). I hope your little one is doing well. Have a great weekend!

Can’t wait to see the final dress!! I too am selective where my labels go. I never put them in my kids clothes, because they itch and my kids just have me cut them out. I only put them in garments that I am really excited about or proud of. I was reading in Claire Schaeffer’s Couture Sewing that the couture houses are superstitious about labels and sew them in as the absolute last step, to be sure the garment is perfect before it is labelled. If I was that picky I’d never use them!
