NY Shopping Day rescheduled to Sept 17th!

Great news folks! I was able to find another date real soon that both Elliott Berman and Metro Textiles could open, September 17th. Here’s our schedule recap:
9:45am Gather in front of Starbucks at 494 8th Ave (corner of 8th and 35th St). I will hand
out maps of the garment district and we’ll split into 2 groups.
9:55am Each group will walk to either Metro Textiles (265 W 37th St, Ste 908, between 7th
and 8th but closer to 8th) or Elliott Berman (225 W 35th St, #7, between 7th and 8th
but closer to 7th)
10:00am Shopping to commence!
11:00am Start having your fabrics cut
11:30am Leave for other store. If you started at Metro, go to Elliott Berman and vice versa
12:00pm Shopping!
1:00pm Start having your fabrics cut
1:30pm Finished at both stores
At this point, you can use your maps to shop at other fabric or trim stores in the district, have lunch or just go home. I look forward to seeing you all there!
As most of you know by now, the hurricane mostly left NYC alone, although Jack and I evacuated (mandatory!) from our apt along with my sister and her family to NJ. We had a great weekend and came back last night. I refused to set my apt to rights though seeing as how I was pretty tired. Basically, I shoved everything I own into closets and bathrooms and my apt now looks like I just moved in and haven’t yet unpacked. People, I hate unpacking. HATE. IT. I might just leave my apt like this until I move again. Jack doesn’t need to take a bath right (his tub is filled with boxes right now)? I could just wipe him down occasionally, right? Sounds like a plan to me.
In other sewing news, my sewing mojo hasn’t been seen for weeks. I think it was last seen walking down the West Side Hwy with a thumb out and my sewing machine strapped to it’s back. I will try to force the issue sew something this week. Emphasis on the word try.
Hope everyone else has their mojo chained to the sewing machine safely in hand.

I’ll be there! It’s on my calendar, and next year, I will remember to mark the Saturday before Labor Day so I can make it then, too.
Drat!!! Once again, the sewing gods are vexing me . . . I won’t be able to come to New York on September 17, as I’ll be in Michigan (on a sewing-related trip). Glad to hear you survived the hurricane relatively intact, and I can relate to the unpacking thing . . . I’ve got dozens of boxes in my basement and spare bedroom, and I have a feeling that it’s going to be quite a while before I dig into them!
Lost power so no sewing done here. Finally got power back yesterday at noon. Much yard cleanup needs to be done before I can sew again. Drat Irene.

It no longer feels like summer, but I will be at the beach then.

I’m sad I will miss this…it sounds like a lot of fun. I am going to be in New York at the end of the month and was hoping to do a little fabric shopping. I wonder if I can convince anyone to come along for a second trip?
Do we have to sign up for this or do we just show up at the location? I was going to go to the garment district anyway at around this time but it would be good to meet other bloggers and fellow sewists…
