PR Weekend Chicago Bonus Post

So, I may have mentioned yesterday that I saved the best for last regarding PR Weekend Chicago.  I think you will agree.

Here’s the backstory:  Andrea brought some of her newest acquisitions to the dinner on Saturday night, one of which was a beautiful silk dupioni ombre border print.  Did I mention it was beautiful???  It was stunning actually and the hand was quite supple with a great drape for dupioni, not the usual stiff coning.  Well, I coveted that fabric.  I know you’re not supposed to covet thy neighbor’s fabric, but I couldn’t help myself.  Pretty soon, I found myself actually stealing Andrea’s fabric.  I kept in my lap for safe keeping.  I was completely flabbergasted when she apparently got on her hands and knees under the table to steal back her fabric.  Well, I couldn’t let her get away with that.  I of course stole it back.  This went on for a couple of back and forths.  In the midst of all this, I happened to take this little video.

ETA: Here’s a link to the YouTube site in case the embedded video above is not working.

I was laughing so hard during this scene.  I hope you felt like you were there too.  So funny.  That was Claudine pointing out the selvedge btw.

Long story short…  Andrea offered the fabric to me after she worked out a deal with Cennetta (who, by the way, is even more beautiful in real life if you can believe it) to get some more yardage.  I gave $$$ to Andrea to reimburse her.  I gotta tell you, I *heart* this fabric.  It’s just so beautiful.  2 yds of gorgeousness from Fishman’s Fabrics.  Wanna see the close up?

As you can tell, a lot of fun times were had by all.  Oh, and here’s pic of me and my roomies, Claudine and Robin (sans Cheryl though).

Happy sewing everyone!

Too funny! And I don’t blame you for coveting that fabric . . . I was standing next to Andrea when she bought it and I was sorely tempted to take some home myself (it’s so gorgeous!!). Sounds like a happy ending for all!

I love your dress! I have this pattern (somewhere!) and you’ve inspired me to track it down and sew it up! Looks like a good time was had by all in Chicago. ~ Peggy http://peggyscloset.blogspot.com/

The PR Weekend was the best. I think I’m hooked. It was great meeting all the lovely ladies. Andrea is a nut. The Birth of the Fabric, hilarious! I spoke with Andrea this morning about that beautiful fabric. I’m going to get a few yards for myself. Wink, wink. Happy Sewing, Elizabeth. I look forward to seeing you at the next PR Weekend.
