Prediction: Most worn garment this summer

2012 May 25
by elizabeth_admin

I am going to make a bold prediction folks.  This summer, I think my most worn garment will be my linen pants.  For reals.  I love them.  They are so comfy.  You can dress them up or dress them down.  They go with anything.  Remember these from last summer?  Vogue 8584.

In fact, I love them so much, I am going to make at least one more or maybe two more so that I have more options to be comfy all summer long.  I am thinking either an oatmeal or tan linen and a black linen.

What do you think you’ll be wearing all summer long?

So cute and comfy. Do you ever feel too frumpy in all the wrinkles of linen? I often do, so I stay away from wearing it…but you might just change my mind!

Great color choices and I say go for it! You will be thrilled to have three pair of go to pants this summer!

My vote is for the black linen (of course). Btw I like the wrinkled-ness of linen, it has a casual look that gives it a lot of texture.

My summer uniform is going to be maxi dresses + cardigans.

I love those pants. Made a similar pattern in soft denim, 2 pair. Also a navy Irish linen and a pair of lime green “stretch” linen. And I do wear them all summer long. Don’t mind the wrinkles, well not too much anyway.

I might try a maxi skirt or a maxi dress.
But your linen pants look like they belong in my closet. If yours go missing, it wasn’t me.

love them! i’ve never had luck with Vogue pants patterns, but these look great on you.

i’m thinking i’ll try another white denim skirt, the one i made 3 summers ago is getting old, but I got a lot of wear out of it.

I have yellow linen I plan to make into pants this summer.

We are having a hot spell in my little part of the world. I saw someone just today wearing white linen pants and thought to myself – I’ll have to check out what pattern Elizabeth used for her pair and see if I can sew some up. Of course, my two year old + white trousers = constant washing! so maybe I’ll go with black… or totally copy you and go for khaki!! 🙂

My white, self-drafted, seersucker, gypsy skirt will be my most worn item this summer – because it was last summer 🙂

I’m so jealous of your linen trousers – they look fab and I vote for another pair in oatmeal. I can’t wear linen because it feels like I have hundreds of tiny pins pricking my skin whenever it touches me.

While I was typing this comment I suddenly realised that I know how to line and/or underline and I know how to use a different fabric for facings so I could actually make myself a pair of linen trousers, or a skirt, that I could wear. I think that linen might now be on my “buy if I find it cheap enough” fabric list.

I made a pair of pants like these out of a charmeuse print. They get tons of compliments and are so comfy.

Well, if the weather keeps nice I think you are right. I’ve just made some linen pants myself.
they look really good and comfy:)

I bought two pairs of similar linen pants a few weeks ago and LOVE them. I also bought this pattern after you sewed your pants and plan to make some soon. Right now, I’m sewing a linen summer dress and I can see it’s going to be a favourite.

I have olive green linen winging its way to me for pants for this summer. I love the casual elegance of wrinkled linen for the summer. 😉

You made my day. Several years ago I bought about 5 colors of “linen look” fabric on sale at Hancock Fabrics. There is enough of each cut to make entire outfits like a maxi skirt, capri’s and a top for summer. Maybe slacks too. 🙂 I think maxi skirts are cool to wear when it’s hot.

If only I could get a pair of pants that look that good! You should live in these all summer. I’m going to have to write down that linen store–glazed linen for $13/yd! I believe I will be spending the summer in dresses. Which isn’t saying much because I wear dresses probably 250 days of the year (and skirts about 100 days a year, and jeans the other 15 days).
