Race against time…

Can I do it?  Can I make a pair of linen pants in one evening?  I’m going to attempt it my friends.  I cut out my linen last night (with all the alterations I mentioned previously).  Boy, do pants eat and waste a lot of yardage.  Man!  But at least I have enough left over to use as accents on my floral linen dress.  Yeah!

I am taking my machines in to be serviced this week.  I haven’t had them serviced since I bought them.  Naughty I know, but I have taken really good care of my machines otherwise.  I clean them regularly, keep them covered when not in use and change my needles frequently.  Lindsay T suggested I call Hecht Sewing Machine & Motor for a recommendation on where to get my sewing machine and serger serviced in the city.  I don’t want to travel to the outer boroughs if I don’t have to.  I called and left them a message on Saturday and got a call back first thing this morning.  They said they could do the service themselves and could possibly provide same day turnaround.  How awesome is that?!?!?

And speaking of speedy and races…  Do you think I can squeeze in one more dress before I leave for my Wales and London vacation this Sunday?  I’m thinking the white eyelet with white voile underneath.  Originally I thought I would use a contrast color under the white eyelet, but now I am thinking I will just use plain white so that it looks fresh and crisp.  However, I am not sure which pattern to use.  Suggestions???  I want it to be a fairly simple design without too many darts because of the fairly large hole size in the eyelet.  Hmmm….

Wish me luck with the pants tonight.  I hope to wear them to dinner tomorrow night.  🙂

Good luck! I think a motivated woman can get anything finished if she wants it badly enough. Remember, you can sleep on the plane.

Good luck I’m sure you can get your pants made in time! P.S. Have fun in London ‘n’ Wales (I wonder what sewing-wonders you’ll find in our little corner of the world :)?).

Another Manhattan shop for sewing machine service is Crown Services. It’s at 107th Street and Broadway. I once got my machine cleaned in a few hours without even requesting express service. The shop is small, but apparently, several mechanics labor below decks.

Girl, you HAVE to use the same pattern as the black eyelet. You kill it!!!

Can’t wait to see how those linen pants come out.
