Sneak Peek: Simplicity 5284

Here is a sneak peek of a pair of ridiculously easy pair of pants I’m making for my nephew Thor.

I traced the pattern, cut the fabric and started sewing last night.  I could have finished them last night too, if my stalker seam-ripper hadn’t needed my loving attention.  Seriously, this pants pattern is that easy.  Three pattern pieces and super quick.

I am using Dana’s flat front pants tutorial to take these pants to the next level.  While I was tracing and cutting out last night though, I realized this pattern is for knits.  Hmm…  They might be a titch too big.  But you know what?  Thor is a kid.  And you know what kids are really good at?  Growing!  So I’m sure these will fit him someday if not this summer.

My favorite thing about this pattern?  The pocket placement.  It’s over the side seam and a little lower down the leg.  Love it!  I think it will be super cute on Thor.

Patch pocket

Can’t wait to finish these and deliver them this weekend!

You are such a great aunt! I love seersucker for everyone in the summer.

I absolutely ADORE seersucker: to me, it screams SUMMER. And it’s so deliciously comfortable! Love these little pants – gotta go see if they have a big-girl version!

They’ll be cute. My kids wore their clothes for 3 years – the year it was too big, the year it was just right and the year they wouldn’t part with it.
