This old thing?
Not only did I find a babysitter for tomorrow night, but I finished my dress today! I should buy a lottery ticket since I’m on a roll now.
There’s really nothing new with this version of B5454. I used my altered pattern which included an FBA and the gathers on the shoulder seam. All the changes I made to the pattern are discussed ad nauseam in this post, this one, and finally this one. It would have been a very quick sew if my coverstitch machine had been more cooperative. I had some major problems with it which required rethreading and unpicking about three times. Very frustrating. Not sure what the problem was, but I had to jury-rig it to get it work on the wrap binding, hand-stitching the very beginning of the binding.
This print was very problematic to photograph. My camera didn’t know how to focus on it. Very strange. Here are some of the best photos I could muster.
I don’t know why, but this dress is not very photogenic. I think it is much more flattering in real life. Take my word for it. I even received an unsolicitation already. The little boy who lives with me said I looked so beautiful in my new dress. He’s getting an extra scoop of ice cream for sure tonight. ;)
We are super busy this weekend, so no sewing for me. I hope some of you get time with your machines this weekend. Happy sewing.

Stunning dress on you!
Hurray on finding the babysitter and hurray on the dress. It looks wonderful!

So happy that you found a babysitter. I agree that you look great. Hope you have a great evening!
You look amazing in this dress and I hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow!
It looks fabulous on you.
It looks great! Glad you got a babysitter and I love when the little men that live with us give honest adorable comments!
Nice! Looks fantastic. I find my camera doesn’t like to photograph some prints as well as others either, but I think it looks lovely in the photos, so it must be downright stunning in real life. Hope you have fun wearing it to your event!
Gorgeous dress and I love the print. This is one of my used patterns too, such a quick make and easy to wear. You look great.
You’re looking great in that dress! The print is fabulous.
You look fab in this dress! So pretty.
That print is lovely and you look great in the dress. Hope you enjoy your evening out!
You look terrific!
Beautiful dress and I love the photograph setting
Fantastic dress with a great background setting! Have a great weekend!
Your dress looks great! I love that DVF wrap style, and it suits you beautifully
It looks great. Prints can be weird in photos, but even so, this looks very smart, so it must be fabulous in real life.
When you work out why coverstitch machines do that, let us know! Mine throws tantrums on a regular basis, despite a level of pampering unknown most of humankind. Usually it throws a tantrum when I am on a deadline
Lovely dress.
Gosh. I think the pattern is perfect for this print. It is very attractive. Wonderful match of pattern and fabric.
Very stylish!
Loving this fabric!
Crazy about your camera! It’s a gorgeous dress though and I adore the print!
