Unselfish

It’s January.  That means February and March are right around the corner.  And that means I have a lot of unselfish sewing to do. Why do I always forget this?!  My mom’s birthday is coming up, as is my niece Katie’s and my nephew Thor’s.  I have to get on this.  Pronto!  I have an idea for my mom’s gift, but haven’t found the right fabric yet.  Maybe a day trip to LA is in order?  Let me know if any of you in the LA area are interested in meeting up and I will throw out a couple of dates.

Last night, my dear friend Tim put in an order for some of the bibs I make occasionally for baby gifts. I ran to my stash to pick out fabrics and found only 3 suitable girl fabrics.  When I was buying fabric for the bib business that never was, I really stocked up on boyish prints because they’re harder to find.  That means I have too few girlish prints on hand now.  Must. rectify. this.

I finished up the bibs a few moments ago and will put them in the mail this afternoon.  I really love the large-scale floral fabric in tangerine and raspberry.  It reminds me of my colorblock dress.  🙂

Should I get new labels that say San Diego now?  😉

In other sewing news, I think I may have just introduced one of my new San Diego friends to sewing.  She’s taking a four-week intro class nearby.  I took her to our nearby Yardage Town to get all her supplies.  She bought a really cute purple and black buffalo plaid cotton to make her first project, pajama pants.  I can’t wait to hear how her first class goes.

Ok, gotta go find some fabric and patterns for all the unselfish sewing I have ahead of me.

Happy sewing!

Let me know when you are heading up to LA – don’t know if I can go, but I do need to get some things up there at some point so maybe I could make it on one of your dates.

I still have the ones you made for Levi…or was it Calvin, I can’t remember which. They are going in their baby box…stained and well used. I love unselfish projects!

You are a VERY unselfish sewist. And considering the lack of girl fabrics, those are pretty fantastic bibs! Is the pattern your own? Every single person I know is currently pregnant. Or, at least it feels that way. LOADS of baby gifts in my future.

I agree with you about sewing for passion rather than profit. It would kill it for me.

Most of us think of unselfish sewing at Christmas time – hats off for continuing into January.

    New labels? New life…
